The ECRC Registry

The Emphysema Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh maintains a registry of current and former smokers. Participation in our registry offers you the chance to contribute to and potentially benefit from the valuable research that is ongoing at our world-renowned research center.  Enrollment in the registry will allow us to contact you if your personal characteristics indicate you may be eligible to participate in any current or future research studies. Our studies often involve new investigational medications and/or treatment devices. Your participation is also valuable in allowing our researchers to continue to study and answer important questions about COPD and emphysema disease processes and genetic influences that may give insights to new treatments.

Participation in the registry involves the collection of information about your respiratory symptoms and it’s impact on your life including basic screening questions (which also involve the examination of your medical records with your authorization), lung function testing, and a blood sample.

We are currently looking for individuals at least 40 years old with a  smoking history and with symptoms of frequent cough, sputum production or shortness of breath.

You may be compensated for your time and parking will be provided
