The ECRC Clinical Team

The clinical team of the University of Pittsburgh Emphysema COPD Research Center at UPMC comprises physicians who hold board certifications in the fields of pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine.

Dr. Frank Sciurba, MD, FCCP
Director

Dr. Frank Sciurba is a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he directs the Emphysema COPD Research Center and the Clinical Pulmonary physiology laboratories and pulmonary rehabilitation program. He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Sciurba’s research is driven by the clinical issues faced by his patients, and he has published over 300 peer-reviewed publications on lung physiology and COPD.

Dr. Jessica Bon Field, MD, MS
Associate Director

Dr. Jessica Bon Field is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine whose clinical focus is primarily on managing and treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Through her outpatient pulmonary practice, she adeptly assesses patients for lung volume reduction surgery and successfully manages those with severe or difficult-to-treat COPD. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Bon Field provides leadership as the Director of the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of Pittsburgh, where she is dedicated to offering the finest standard of training and guidance to upcoming generations of pulmonary specialists.

Dr. Corrine R. Kliment, MD, PhD

Dr. Corrine Kliment is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Division at the University of Pittsburgh, with clinical expertise and a research focus on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), epithelial and mitochondrial biology. Her primary objective is to advance our knowledge of the fundamental mechanisms of COPD and detect new therapeutic targets for treating this incapacitating illness.

Dr. Shikha Gupta, MD

Dr. Shikha Gupta is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Division at the University of Pittsburgh. Her clinical focus is COPD, and with her vast clinical experience, she is an expert in managing patients with COPD and assessing them for advanced therapies such as endobronchial valve therapy. With her knowledge and contributions, she plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the ECRC.

Dr. Roy Semaan, MD

Dr. Roy Semaan is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Division at the University of Pittsburgh, who specializes in interventional pulmonology. Through his extensive knowledge in this field, he utilizes advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of various lung disorders, including lung cancer. He plays a crucial role in the Endobronchial Valve Program.

Dr. Daniel Dunlap, MD

Dr. Daniel Dunlap is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Division at the University of Pittsburgh, who specializes in interventional pulmonary, with a special interest in the lung microbiome. He plays a crucial role in our Endobronchial Valve Program.
